While natural remedies can be helpful, it’s important to remember that natural options typically repel fleas and do not fully eliminate them.

We are focusing primarily on dogs, since they often share your living space but go in and outdoors often.

Start With Your Environment

Fleas don’t just live on animals. They can live in your home and yard. Be sure to vacuum frequently, wash your ped’s bedding in hot water weekly, and keep yard areas clean. Fleas love shaded, damp areas outdoors, so eliminate those as much as possible.

Regularly Groom Your Dog

Use a flea comb daily on your dog. Dip the comb in soapy water to kill any removed fleas. Be sure to bath your dog regularly with a gentle shampoo.

Use Natural Repellents

Lightly mist your dog’s coat with apple cider vinegar spray (one part vinegar and one part water). Be sure to avoid their eyes and any wounds. The vinegar can repel fleas, but does not kill them.

You can also spray your dogs with lemon spray to repel fleas. Boil sliced lemons in water, cool and spray on your dog.

Diet

Make sure to feed your do a high-quality diet that is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and keep them clean and groomed. A healthy dog is much less attractive to fleas and other pests.

AVOID These items!!

While there are many options available to naturally prevent fleas, some can be harmful to your animal:

GARLIC: Garlic can be toxic to dogs and should never be used as flea control.

ESSENTIAL OILS: Some essential oils, such as tea tree can be toxic in high doses. If you want to use essential oils, please do research about which ones are safe for cats or dogs.

VINEGAR: Straight vinegar can cause burning and irritation on your dog’s skin. Always dilute vinegar before applying and do not over use. If you notice irritation, stop using.

The natural approach to fleas typically involves the “layering” approach. No one options will do the trick, but by using several methods, you will usually see results. Natural remedies typically repel fleas and do not kill them in all stages. So, think of it as a prevention. Natural options may not be enough to treat a full infestation.

It helps protect you from illness, remove waste and reduce inflammation and swelling.

But sometimes your Lymphatic System slows down or gets bogged down. When that happens, you may notice some or all of the following:

Swelling or puffiness, especially in your face or ankles.

A sluggish immune system and you get sick often.

Brain fog

Tiredness for no obvious reason.

Dull skin or more than normal breakouts.

If you notice some or all of these symptoms, your lymphatic system may be the cause. Here are some simple, low-risk steps to help get your lymphatic system working fully again.

Hydration: Since your lymphatic system is mostly made of water, dehydration can cause problems. Try to drink water throughout the day and add a pinch of pink salt or Celtic salt to add minerals and increase absorption.

Move Your Body: Walking stretching, rebounding (light bouncing on a mini trampoline, and strength training are all great ways to support your lymphatic system. Don’t worry about being too intense, even light exercise can be helpful.

Dry Brushing: Brush your skin with a natural bristle brush each day before showering. Dry brushing may stimulate the flow of lymph and support circulation. Brush toward the heart, using light pressure for a few minutes each day.

Deep Breathing: Deep breathing can act like a pump for your lymphatic system, kickstarting it. Inhale through your nose and exhale slowly and fully. This step is also good for stress relief.

Eat Whole Foods: Your lymphatic system works with your liver and kidneys to detox your body. Support them by eating leafy greens, citrus fruits and berries

Supporting your lymphatic system can have a noticeable improvement in your overall health. While most of us never think much about this important system, we will notice when it is not working properly. Developing small habits to support your body’s natural systems can have a positive effect on your overall health long term.

When you are trying to improve your health, don’t just focus on nutrition and exercise, be sure to focus on water and hydration. This is one of the easiest steps to improving your overall health.

Not all water is the same! Make sure your water is good quality to get the best benefit. Even if your water looks and tastes fine, it may still contain chemicals or contaminants that can damage your health over time. Poor water quality can affect digestion, skin health, energy, and even how well your body absorbs nutrients.

You don’t have to rely on expensive bottles of water to ensure you are getting top quality. Even though it costs more up front, a water filtration system provides a long-term solution that is consistent and affordable. Many systems include multiple steps designed to ensure the highest quality possible.

Reverse Osmosis: A Gold Standard for Clean Water

At True Light Wellness, we love reverse osmosis (RO) to filter our water. This is one of the most effective filtration methods available. Water goes through a membrane that removes up to 99 percent of contaminants, such as lead, heavy metals, chlorine, bacteria and excess minerals.

Reverse Osmosis systems are available in under sink options, as well as whole house options. The whole house options provide top quality water for your entire family for showers, drinking, and other equipment, including ice makers.

Adding Minerals

Most water filtrations systems remove all minerals – both harmful and beneficial. To ensure your body gets needed minerals, be sure to add a pinch of pink Himalayan or Celtic salt to your drinking water. While you won’t taste the salt, it will add trace minerals and electrolytes your body needs including magnesium and potassium, as well as help your body absorb water more efficiently. You don’t need to add much salt to get the benefits. A tiny pinch will do the trick!

Our bodies need water to function. Your kidneys, heart, muscles, digestion system, and even your skin need hydration to work. By ensuring your body gets the best quality available, you are helping your body function better. Sometimes, the easiest way to improve your health is basic: drink a glass of water!

We have trouble concentrating. We forget things easily. We take longer to process things. We have difficulty finding the right word. “Brain fog” is a way people describe feeling mentally slow, unfocused, or hazy. While it isn’t an official medical diagnosis, it can indicate some issues with your health. Brain Fog can be caused by a variety of things, including poor or irregular sleep, stress, being dehydrated or not eating a balanced diet. It can also be caused by too much electronic screen time.

Brain fog can also be caused by other, more serious issues such as depression, burnout, hormonal changes, vitamin deficiencies (especially B12, iron and vitamin D), or certain medications or viruses.

You are not alone! Here are some ways you can prevent brain fog or keep it to a minimum.

Drink Water. Your body, especially your brain, needs hydration to function properly. Be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

Get Proper Sleep. Sleep is important to your entire body. When you body is sleep deprived, your body can’t work properly.

Take a Walk. “Waking Up” your body is sometimes as easy as a brisk walk around the office or the block. Getting outdoors can be good, weather permitting of course.

Limit Screen Time. In today’s world, we all work and play on electronic screens much of the day. Limit exposure as much as possible.

Reduce Caffeine. While you may think caffeine is the key to energizing your day, too much has the exact opposite effect. While some people are more sensitive than others, pay close attention to how caffeine affects you.

Looking for ways to improve your daily energy levels? True Light Wellness can help. Schedule a consultation today and get started.

We need to find ways of coping with our stress and reducing it whenever possible. Stress has a huge impact on our health, so managing our stress is important to your health and longevity. Try these quick easy ways to calm down when you feel stressed:

Deep breathing: Try inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 4, exhaling for 6. This signals your body to calm down.

Step outside: Fresh air and natural light can quickly reset your mood.

Unplug briefly: Even a short break from screens can reduce mental overload.

We can also add these routine habits into our day to help us manage stress. Pick just one option to include in your routine.

Exercise: You don’t have to exercise vigorously to benefit. Try walking and stretching to release built up tension.

Sleep: Getting enough good quality sleep can make managing stress much easier.

Hydrate: Make sure to keep your body well hydrated so it functions at a high level.

Healthy Eating: Eating balanced meals with whole ingredients help you avoid blood sugar mood swings.

Journaling, laughing with a friend, massage therapy, guided meditation, and many other simple things can also help you manage stress. Pick one or two of these things and incorporate them whenever possible.

However, many of us find our immune systems are in need of a recharge. The effects of changing weather, seasonal allergies and packed schedules leave you feeling run down. Here are some ideas to support your immune system this spring.

Eat Immune boosting Foods
Choose whole foods that provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help your body naturally.

Oranges, lemons and other citrus fruits

Blueberries, strawberries and other berries are a great source of antioxidants.

Garlic and ginger have natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Nuts and seeds, including almonds and sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E.

Stay Hydrated

Water is important for your entire body, including your immune system. Consuming enough water helps your body get rid of toxins and keeps your mucous membranes moist (your first defense against germs).

Make Sure to Get Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep weakens your body’s defense system. Try to get between 7 and 9 hours of restorative sleep per night. You can also include stress-reducing exercise, such as meditation and deep breathing to help.

Support Your Gut Health

Your gut is an important part of your immune system, so keeping it healthy is an important step for staying healthy. Including fiber-rich foods, fermented foods help support your digestive system. Avoid ultra processed foods as much as possible since these types of foods damage your gut.

Move Your Body

While you don’t need to run a mile every day, regular movement improves circulation, reduces stress and supports your immune system. Try a brisk walk, gentle yoga or stretching to get started.

Supporting your body with these small choices can make a big difference in your health. Therapies such as PEMF and bioenegetic testing can also enhance your body’s functions. Contact us for more information.

We are all stressed from a long, cold season that left us ready to sleep!

Spring is the perfect time to reset your energy naturally.

Focus on Nutrition

What you eat directly affects your energy. Small changes can make a big difference. Choose in season produce such as leafy greens, asparagus, and berries for an energy boost. Look at your diet closely and eliminate as many highly processed foods as possible. While refined sugars and carbs can give you a temporary energy burst, in the long run, they can have the opposite effect.

Hydrate and Detox
The winter months often leaves us dehydrated and sluggish. Increaiing your water intake is an easy way to get your system working properly. Keep a water cup or bottle hands throughout the day and sip water often..

Get Outside!
Fresh air and sunlight can make a huge difference in your mood and in your body. Try to stretch, take a walk or other exercise every day. Sunlight helps support vitamin D production that is essential for energy.

Spring is the perfect time to get fresh air and sunlight:

Even a 20–30 minute walk outside helps boost circulation and oxygen delivery to your cells.

Gentle stretching, yoga, or tai chi reduces tension and improves energy flow.

Sunlight exposure supports vitamin D production, which is essential for energy and immunity.

Clean Up Your Home and Work Place
Spring Cleaning is a great way to reset and increase energy! Try these tips:

Open windows to let in fresh air and sunlight.

Declutter your space to reduce mental overload.

Add plants to improve air quality.

Small, consistent habits—balanced nutrition, hydration, movement, restful sleep, and energetic support—can reset your energy and prepare your body for a vibrant spring.

Ginger tea, adding ginger to smoothies and cooking with ginger are all great ways to add ginger to your diet. Our favorite ways is to blend fresh ginger and a small amount of water. Strain and keep in a container in the refrigerator. Drink a small amount each morning to jump start your day.

These and other triggers can drain our energy and throw our systems out of balance. PEMF therapy—short for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy—offers a gentle, non-invasive way to support the body’s natural ability to restore itself.

While athletes routinely use PEMF therapy following an injury PEMF isn’t just for pain or injury recovery. These treatments can can support everyday wellness in a variety of powerful ways

Sleep

Many people are so relaxed during PEMF, they fall asleep!

Inflammation

Inflammation is often the cause of many everyday aches and pains. PEMF therapy supports a healthy inflammatory response, as well as better nutrient delivery to tissues all over the body.

Mental Clarity

When we are physically stressed, our mind can be stressed as well. PEMF may support clearer thinking, improved focus and reduced mental fatigue. PEMF can play an important role for busy professionals, caregivers and others feeling overwhelmed.

PEMF therapy doesn’t replace healthy lifestyle habits—it enhances them. When paired with good nutrition, hydration, movement, and tools like bioenergetic testing, it becomes part of a powerful, holistic approach to wellness.
